Learning Outcomes and Application This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to apply patterns and/or designs to glass surfaces to manufacture decorative glass products. This unit applies to glass processing workers.No licensing or certification requirements exist at the time of publication. Relevant legislation, industry standards and codes of practice within Australia must be applied.
Duration and Setting X weeks, nominally xx hours, delivered in a classroom/online/blended learning setting.

Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Identify work requirements
  • Read work instructions and identify job requirements
  • Identify and follow work health and safety requirements, using all required personal protective equipment
  • Select and check required tools, equipment and materials for serviceability and safety prior to use
  • Plan sequence of work to ensure processing is conducted in a logical order
       
Element: Apply pattern or design
  • Produce required template from plan or design using software in accordance with workplace practices
  • Apply pattern or design template or mask glass surface with appropriate materials in accordance with job requirements
  • Apply pattern or design to glass surface in accordance with workplace procedures or industry practice
  • Identify and report problems to appropriate persons, and follow any authorised changes in working procedures
  • Inspect product for quality of work and repair or discard in accordance with workplace procedures

  • Label processed glass and store in accordance with workplace procedures ensuring there are no projections
  • Clean work area, safely dispose of rubbish and identify items for recycling in accordance with workplace procedures
  • Remove and store tools, equipment and unused materials in accordance with workplace procedures
  • Accurately complete required workplace documentation

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.
